The Senate uses Unanimous Consent to facilitate business-as-usual. In the first weeks of the Trump Administration they've used the tool hundreds of times  to approve the Trump administration's appointees and give themselves long weekends while the Trump Administration rolls out multiple constitutional crises and Elon Musk targets the U.S. Government's payment system with the help of a 19 year old that goes by BigBalls. 

 

THE SENATE SHOULD NOT BE GOING HOME EARLY. 

THE SENATE SHOULD NOT BE QUIETLY ACCEPTING THESE NOMINEES.

 

THE SENATE SHOULD NOT BE ROLLING OVER FOR TRUMP

It just takes one Senator to object to Unanimous Consent and end business-as-usual for these nitwits that are sleepwalking through a coup.  Just the *threat* of unanimous consent was enough to rescind the incredibly illegal OMB memo proposing to freeze all government spending.  DO THE THING TRUMP IS SCARED OF. 

Call your Senator and inform them that these are unprecedented times and that what we need is an opposition party that refuses to do business as usual. Make it clear that  that you expect them to object to Unanimous Consent and if they don't, they won't have your vote this year or any other.  For a lengthy set of instructions see Indivisible.org's writeup and find a local indivisible.org group.  Then show up in person to tell your Senator to object to Unanimous Consent. Because it's their fucking job.

Make them stay in Washington and do it.

SENATORS CONSENTING TO FASCISM

ALL OF THEM.  However, there has been movement and as of 4 Feb, Democrats claim to be operating as if there is a blanket hold on nominees. Hold them to it - keep calling your Senators at 202-224-3121 and tell them to refuse unanimous consent. Make the administration work for every single one of the 1000+ appointees in the wing.

We're going to start tracking how many times each Senator calls for unanimous consent. For now, enjoy this list of Senators grandstanding and not actually refusing Unanimous Consent.  

SENATOR WARREN IS CONSENTING TO FASCISM

Elizabeth Warren has made headlines saying "We Do Not Consent!"  Except she does.  Every single time someone calls for Unanimous Consent.  

There's no common ground with fascists Sen. Warren, no business-as-usual. STAND UP AND REFUSE UNANIMOUS CONSENT. 

SENATOR SCHATZ IS CONSENTING TO FASCISM

Brian Schatz was feeling real bold on 3 Feb, claiming that he would block Trump nominees if USAID did not make it through.

LIAR. SCHATZ DIDN'T BOTHER TO OBJECT TO UNANIMOUS CONSENT TO VOTE ON PAM BONDI'S NOMINATION THE NEXT DAY.

Bondi believes that Trump's impeachement was the result of politically motivated persecution, not, say, breaking the fucking law 34 separate times. Apparently, that's fine by Schatz.

SENATOR DURBIN IS CONSENTING TO FASCISM

Dick Durbin thinks "there's a limit to how much we can do," but part of his repertoire is REQUESTING UNANIMOUS CONSENT.

 

On 29 Jan he requested unanimous consent immediately prior to a long-ass speech beginning with "On Monday evening, President Trump threw America into chaos." Everyone knows, Dick. Do something about it. STOP REQUESTING UNANIMOUS CONSENT AND START OBJECTING TO IT
